THE  OREGON  CAT  PROJECT
2012

Change is Coming
The Oregon Cat Project is a 5 year plan to put an end to cat over population and homelessness in the Portland area.   Cats, especially homeless cats, those with no voice have been treated as second class citizens or non-citizens for to long.  The Project's Plan ultimately begins with a non-profit, open admission, no kill feline center which will be the first of its kind anywhere in the NW in the year 2014.  This is a monumental task to accomplish in three short years.  Included in this center will be a truly "low-cost" spay and neuter facility, available to ALL cats, to owners in ALL income brackets, and to our fellow rescuers.  Also available will be general medical care for cats and kittens at a reasonable price.  One of the most common cited reasons for not adopting another cat is the cost of veterinary care.  We aim to change that making cat ownership possible for more people.  We will also offer sanctuary and services to feral,  FIV+, FeLV+, and hospice cats.  TOCP's doors have been open since April 2010, with our focus being solely rescue & adoption.  Plans for 2012 include the opening of our first spay and neuter/medical clinic in December.  Interviews have already begun for our chief of staff.  Our mobile adoption center, the first of it's kind in Portland and maybe Oregon will hit the road this summer with adoptable cats and kittens. 2013 will focus on fund-raising and securing support to make this vision a reality.  We ask you that you join us on this journey.  If you have something to offer, please contact us and lets make a better world for cats.
